Our latest newsletter showcases the re-launch of our Working Paper series and delivery of our practitioner course in September

Welcome to the ERRN newsletter for December 2025. With a new Editorial Team for our Working Paper series, and another cohort of electoral commission colleagues having taken our practitioner course, the Network has continued to grow since the last newsletter in June, reflecting ERRN’s vibrant nationwide team and community. Don’t miss Peter Brent’s Electoral Vignette contemplating secret ballots as “a huge leap in government involvement in elections” and discussion of how postal voting and other mechanisms have strayed far from the original system, raising useful questions about the enduring need to ensure secrecy.
